Well stated, we as a 2A community need to be much better about advocating to those that are not part of the community. The anti-gun community has perfected its messaging and it continually matures. We need to stay on par and do a much better job than just saying it's our right. Statistics and a good explanation is key. We also need to not back down when the other side starts name-calling and not stoop to that level of immaturity

Every day, in fact, several times a day, somebody with a gun (aside from law enforcement) stops somebody from being killed. Even the FBI admits that this happens about 1.5 million times every year. That’s a lot of people still alive because they or somebody else used their Constitutional, G-d given, right to defend with a gun. This needs to be publicized much more. In other words, people saved by a gun far outnumber those that are killed by a gun. Which brings me to another point, suicides are often done with a gun, because it is fast and easy. The people who do this would, however, still commit suicide if they didn’t have a gun. My own step-son hung himself. These suicides should not be counted as gun deaths (and that number is about 50%). Another point worth mentioning is that the great majority of gun deaths are committed by persons not legally entitled to have a gun. The majority of deaths are mostly in a handful of poor (blue) large cities. These are facts, real numbers. The opposition’s numbers? Well, they lie, a lot. Gun owners should talk real numbers, often and in public. Write a post or pen a letter to the editor. The gun organizations are pre-occupied with defending guns and gun owners in court, so good gun publicity is up to us.
